Grandson Timothy Beaton's School Essay about Grandpa - April 2009

There are many people in my life that I can remember, but there is one significant person who took my mind by a landside, my grandfather.

There a 3 stories I can easily remember like...when grandpa had me grab the candy jar, a BDE tour, and all his great friends.

In the summer of 2006 I was eagerly waiting to go on vacation to Michigan.  I got brand new watershoes to go canoeing.  But the vacation I was really thinking about was my trip with my grandparents to Bardstown, Kentucky.   I had so much fun on that trip. We went to an old Indian settlement, Coca-Cola history museum, saw a Coke R2-D2, ride down the river on a paddleboat, and saw Abraham Lincolns birthplace, I got bit by a goat on the trip too. I also out grew my watershoes in two weeks

One thing I know is friends make the world go around.  To my grandparents this is so true.  On the day of my grandpa's funeral we had 50 old Buick's packed full of some of his best friends (he was a huge Buick fan)..  His funeral was held in a small room, but it was packed full  with his best friends.

Some of you may have little candy jars at home for mini candy.  My grandparents had one. Grandpa asked me to get it for him because he was hungry, and I did.  As I'm walking away I got hit in the back of the head by a mini snickers bar.  This started a war between me and grandpa for about 5 minutes.  After it was done I had a handful of mini snickers to eat.

There are many stories I can tell about me and grandpa but these are the first ones I remember.  Like the candy jar it wasn't heard to make great memories with grandpa.
